AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat University (GU) has issued public explanations regarding reports that the university has given the cleaning contract to the highest bidder as well as started unauthorized work on shifting computers from the laboratory to different departments at a hefty expense without taking prior permissions from the buildings committee.
Congress syndicate member Himanshu Patel however has issued a release saying that the GU is falsely justifying the highest bidder by saying that there are directives to pay minimum wages to the cleaners. "There are at least two agencies who pay minimum wages to their cleaners, have quoted less and yet they have been overlooked", he said.Patel has also said that an open debate about the various wrong-goings in the GU should take place in absence of which he will take a legal recourse to put a stop to misuse of power and funds in the GU.
