Modi to inaugurate Amdavad National Book Fair at Gujarat University

Ahmedabad: The second edition of Amdavad National Book Fair will be inaugurated by CM Narendra Modi at Gujarat University Convention Centre on Tuesday. It will be open to public from May 1 to 7, from 12 noon to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 10pm on the weekend.

A stall for donation of books and display of movies based on literary works will be the new attractions at the fair. The local, national and international publishers are expected to display thousands of books at 320 stalls at the centre. Literary creations of Kanaiyalal Munshi and Poet Rajendra Shah form theme of the exhibition.

“Many people have old books that are of no use to them. They can be donated here, instead of discarding them. The donated books will reach their target readers,” said Guruprasad Mohapatra, municipal commissioner of the civic body that has set up this stall.

AMC claims that it has received good response from publishers for the second edition of the book fest, so much so that number of stalls has increased from last year’s 175 stalls to 320 stalls this year. AMC has also organised different activities such as poetry recitation, discussions and workshops at the fair.
