700 Students of Gujarat University may lose a year

About 700 students currently studying in colleges affiliated to Gujarat University (GU ) may lose a year as the fifth semester ' allowed to keep Time ' ( ATKT ) exam is scheduled for November.

It should be mentioned that the Choice Based Credit System ( CBCS ) contrasted by semester exams , GU was introduced in 2011. The first group of students to study through this system will graduate this year. Here, students were promoted to the next semester , even if they failed the current semester .

" If the fifth semester ATKT examination will be held in November, the results will be declared in December alone . This means that we will lose the entire academic year. Prior CBCS system was introduced, ATKT examinations were performed immediately after the exams so GU if students cleared the ATKT , the result could be declared in the same academic year, "said a student concerned.

Students said they have made a representation of GU to reschedule the exam. Meanwhile, authorities said GU ATKT exams were scheduled a few months later to reduce the pressure of exams in the GU , which is burdened by multiple exams semester system .
